GATEKEEPER – TREE DRUM (PRE-GEN EXO MIX)

Posted: June 28th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Audio | Comments Off

Ross-Arkell Corporation: Building Better Worlds.

Gatekeeper just initiated the colonisation of a foreign planet by revealing a track from their upcoming Exo debut LP.  The New York based duo consisting of Matthew Arkell and Aaron David Ross explore the fora and fauna of a world unknown with Tree Drum.

Much like the other songs on the album, it’s an exotic journey of Avatar-like proportions — albeit slightly more modern and grim. We simply can’t stop playing Exo here at Inc. HQ, and we can’t wait till all of us Earthlings can listen to this HD experience.

Exo is due July 24th — you can pre-order the album at Hippos In Tanks.

GOLDEN BIRTHDAY – HUMANS BLEED

The sun bleeds warmth.

Our favorite Chicago based lo-fi popstars finally released the sunshine filled Blue Island LP today! On their third album, Golden Birthday explores the daily routines of a summer spent in the Pilsen neighborhood. We already talked a lot about GB in the past few months so it’s about time we spoke less and listened up. Check out the video for Humans Bleed, and after that, check out the mix that frontman Ryan Sullivan made for us a while ago — it includes the many tracks that inspired Blue Island.

Stefan Blomeier: They Have No Place In Paradise

Posted: June 27th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Video | Comments Off

“The Ultimate Shocker…”

Through the electrical wires of your home entertainment system, Stefan Blomeier is entering your apartment to bring you a radical assembly of lo-fi house and digital funk.

The Denmark native who recently released The Danish Traits through Ruralfaune’s Synth Series provides us with a pleasantly familiar vibe. The combination of imagery from Pulse and this arcade-hall anthem named They Have No Place In Paradise makes up for some legit 80s reminiscing – insert coin to continue.

JAHILIYYA FIELDS – WATER BREAKER

Posted: June 26th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Video | Comments Off

Coven of electronics.

Buried underneath tons of ritualistic outings, Islamic references, and scattered liturgy, Jahiliyya Fields hosts a sacred gathering of electronics. The man behind these flustering atmospheres is Matt Morandi – with slowly proceeding synthesizers and a sluggish drum computer  at his disposal, he enters a realm that uninspired journalists would inappropriately tag as ‘witch house’. It’s a good thing this trite term has died a slow death a while ago because Water Breaker is much more than just religious imagery.

The album that this jam is featured on – Universal Hexagram – is an odd one in the roster of L.I.E.S. Being in the sweet company of jacking house and acid dripping artists that released work on this label, Morandi’s double LP offering makes a further step into experimental bravery.

CC – UP WIND

Posted: June 24th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Audio | Comments Off

No sleep.

Hailing from Atlanta, Chris Powers has been fabricating some swiveling club jams that shouldn’t be heard before the clock hits midnight. By playing with house, garage, and other appropriate flavors, Cc seems to be autographing the chronics of sleepless dark hours. The result of these auditory diaries is Up Wind – an EP counting five original tracks that make you want to stay up, plus two remixes by Night Slugs descendant Helix and ATL-buddy REKchampa. The man is in good company indeed.

The record is out through Jass;  stream and buy right here.

Featured Artist: Physical Therapy

A post-modern exercise.

The alias of Daniel Fisher isn’t just a combination of words that easily sticks to one’s mind. By stimulating exercise and boosting energy onto the dance floor, Physical Therapy is a name that does his music and DJ-endeavors more than justice.

After tons of (re)mixes and edits, the New Jersey residing youngster is finally releasing an EP filled with original productions. The five tracks that make up ‘Safety Net’ are presented in a similar structure as your typical workout – it’s time to get ripped as we’re discussing the album and have a short talk with Daniel.

MISSIONS – DARRK/BLAKK (WHITE CAR LOVE JUST BEGUN MIX)

Posted: June 18th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Audio | Comments Off

Katz on a mission.

Every song that gets touched by the sticky fingers of Elon Katz gets mutated without any chance of rehabilitation. The front man of White Car throws a few raunchy rearrangements into ‘Darrk/Blakk’ – the powerful A-side of a new 7” by Austin based Missions. The synth-pop tinged gloom jam has a firm body by default, but gets even more muscle after this exercise.

Pau Wau Records will release the vinyl on July 6th – pre-orders are available here.

KURZON DAX – NEUTRINO LEAK

Posted: June 18th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Audio | Comments Off

Symbiosis.

The last time we wrote about Kurzon Dax, this Chicago native gave birth to a retro-futuristic sci-fi jam — having 707 samples and vintage synthesizer sounds at his disposal.

It seems like he didn’t quit this endeavor, and for good reason. ‘Neutrino Leak’ is an exploration of the same arpeggiated terrain that the former track takes place in, and we are looking forward to the next chapter in this saga.

NGUZUNGUZU – DELIRIUM

Posted: June 13th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Audio | Comments Off

Warm Pulse unchained…

The assemblers of outer planetary bass fulfillment — Nguzunguzu — are releasing the ‘Warm Pulse’ EP through Hippos In Tanks. Get waxy on the first leaked cut named ‘Delirium’, a track that is once again indefinably deep, and certainly not from this universe.

The digital version is available on July 3rd. If you like to channel these jams through the needle, then you’ll have to wait till August 14th.

SICH MANG – PROM D88

What was that stuff Fifield was smoking?

Sich Mang, you fools are crazy for this one. These Chicago based engineers of battered footwork jams sampled the Prometheus trailer and fueled it up with some grotesque ‘Wurkstep’ and Gabber DNA. Now, I loved said movie, but for those who thought the film lacked length or depth: this seems like an appropriate way to blow off some steam.

These dudes are releasing their debut LP through Rainbow Body Records this summer. This will give you enough time to save up some cash to buy yourself a decent subwoofer – you will need one.
